"Parallels: Beyond Borders" —
a documentary film created as part of a joint project between the NGO "Israeli Friends of Ukraine" and Ukrainian Jewish Encounter.
THE FILM IN NUMBERS
OFFICIAL TRAILER
This film tells the story of Israeli initiatives that began providing assistance to Ukrainians at the onset of Russia's full-scale invasion. The film’s protagonists also speak about support for Israel after the events of October 7, highlighting the shared destinies of both countries.
DARIA NOR,
THE FILM’S DIRECTOR
Initially, this was a film about the Ukrainian community and initiatives in Israel, but the war in Israel shifted the focus. The stories of the protagonists—different in their activities but similar in feelings—remarkably complemented each other. Everyone was speaking about the same thing, but from different perspectives.
ANNA ZHAROVA,
CO-FOUNDER OF THE NGO "ISRAELI FRIENDS OF UKRAINE"
This film emphasizes the importance of the connection between Israel and Ukraine, both fighting terrorism, and shows how ordinary people—Israelis and Ukrainians—come together to support one another.
The film was created by a well-coordinated team in Ukraine and Israel.
The project's lead cinematographer is Eric Marmor, a war correspondent of Ukrainian origin. From the first days of the war in Ukraine, Eric, armed with a helmet and body armor, returned to his homeland to document the horrific testimonies of the war. He traveled to various regions, assisting people at the crossing of the famous destroyed bridge in Irpin. His powerful photographs appeared on the front pages of many well-known publications around the world.
Since October 7, 2023, Eric has been covering events in Israel.
This film is dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the NGO "Israeli Friends of Ukraine," which has grown from a volunteer initiative into the largest pro-Ukrainian organization in Israel.
Since its founding in 2014, "Israeli Friends of Ukraine" has been supporting Ukraine.
The film’s title, "Parallels: Beyond Borders," is a tribute to the podcast
where Anna Zharova and Vyacheslav Feldman reflect on the shared fates of the two countries.
